About

The Gallium Nitride Ecosystem Enabling Centre and Incubator, or GEECI, is a small-volume semiconductor wafer and device production, characterization, and packaging facility located at the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, India.

It is a Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) – funded initiative of the Foundation for Science, Innovation, and Development (FSID), a section 8 company and the incubation arm of IISc, India’s leading institution for higher learning.

GEECI’s vision is to create an ecosystem of startups, established industry organizations, supply chain companies, equipment manufacturers, and academic institutions to cater to the developing markets of GaN wafers and devices in the power electronics, RF communication, and nitride MEMS sectors. We hope that GEECI will bring together Indian as well as global suppliers of chemicals, substrates, wafers, devices, and technically qualified human resource for GaN-based power and RF design, packaging, and sub-system and system manufacturing to create a vibrant self-sustaining network.

The GEECI line includes:

  • Tools for GaN wafer deposition
  • Tools for device fabrication
  • Tools for comprehensive power and RF device characterization
  • Tools for wafer and device packaging
  • Licensed device and circuit design software
